My Review

Far From You is a gripping read, totally fearless too! It takes the reader to new places and gives them pause for thought! I actually read this through twice, just to make sure I didn't miss out on any of the delicious detailing!

I love Tess Sharpe's fantastic writing style, she writes outside the box, pushing her readers to new heights not too ofter explored in the YA genre - I am truly grateful for her fearlessness! I liked how complex and complicated I found the characters to be, I never knew which direction they would pull me next!

Sophie is addicted to drugs....well our story starts off 9 months, 2 weeks and 6 days of Sophie being drug free. The story then jumps a lot, back in time and then back to the present - it takes a bit of getting used to. I think these flashbacks into Sophie's past give a really rounded picture of who our characters are, their thoughts, feelings and personalities!

Sophie's best-friend, Mina, was murdered in front of her eyes. Everyone thinks Sophie was on drugs, her parents send her to a rehab centre. All Sophie has in there are her memories, grief and thoughts - she knows that she needs to figure out what happened to her best-friend.

I like the addiction storyline, Sophie is an addict, but to prescription drugs. She had to take really strong medication after an accident and became hooked. Tess Sharpe handled this with great care and attention to detail. It's important to highlight that people can become addicted to prescribed medication, they can become driven by it, will do anything for it and ultimately it ruins their lives. Too often people overlook this sort of addiction.

Everything is extremely pacy and really you just need to clear your schedule for a whole day because you will be compelled to finish it. The ending rocked my socks off....

Far From You is an emotionally charged debut that speaks volumes. It's fast, dangerous and extremely thrilling. Readers everywhere will be riveted and on the very edge of their seats, because they will just never know what lies around each corner. If you only read one book this year, make if Far From You - it won't disappoint!

5 / 5 Stars!
