Feathermore by Lucy Swing - Blog Tour

 Summary

"When the one thing you live for is taken from you, do you let it go or do you fall?

Jade, like any other student at Brushwood High, awaits the start of the school year with a certain measure of dread. Worse, she is being threatened by a voice that only she can hear—a voice that lurks at the edges of her awareness, haunting her and warning her of something unknown. She has always been able to count on her two best friends, Claire and Nate, but can she confide in them now? About this? Would they even believe her?

Life takes a turn for the better when she meets Avan, a darkly handsome new student who, somehow, seems to drown out the voice and make her feel at ease.

But Jade soon comes to realize that good things don’t last forever. When everything spirals out of control, she is shattered by something she never saw coming. Dazed and despairing, she must now overcome tragedy and embrace her true existence and a new but dangerous love. Will she be able to save herself and those she loves, before it’s too late? Or will she let the surrounding darkness consume her?"

 My review

I really won't be able to praise Feathermore enough, it has such an in-depth, engaging storyline, interesting, like-able characters and is beautifully written and really well thought out. I think Lucy Swing is on to a winner with the first in what I believe will be an amazing new series.

Jade, is just a regular teenager, she goes to high school, she is not popular but she has friends, two best friends called Claire and Nate. There is a new guy in school called Avan, he seems to be interested in Jade but when they touch for the first time, lets just say sparks start to fly. Claire doesn't seem pleased and starts acting strange.

Something awful happens to Jade, that changes everything in her life. Things are turned upside down for Jade and she finds out that not only is she not who she thought she was but her best-friends haven't been telling the truth either. Jade has been having very strange dreams about people she knows but things seem all to read. Could they possibly be?

Jade finds herself in terrible danger and needs to be extra careful and not only look after herself but also those who she cares about. Can Jade adjust to her new identity? Can she save herself?

Well the ending was explosive, it left me screaming at the book. I absolutely cannot wait wait to read the next instalment. I really cannot believe Lucy Swing left me hanging like that LOL, it will do my head in.

Feathermore is a truly wonderful read, it hooked me from the off and I devoured it quite quickly. It has a brilliant twist, so different from everything else in the genre at the minute. Add feathermore to your wishlist today, I highly recommend it.

My favourite characters:

Jade: She is such a like-able character, she is strong, courageous and is also a great friend. I really cannot wait to see where her path leads.

Lilith: We don't get to read much about her, but the end section of the book has left me off so intrigued by her and I even felt a little sorry for her. I am eager to know how her twisted mind works.

5/5 Stars

Interview

A big hello and welcome to Lucy Swing, who dropped by Fiction Fascination for an interview.

Hi Carly, Thank you so much for having me here today. I am so excited!

Tell us a little bit about Feathermore

Feathermore is the story of Jade, a seemingly normal teenage girl whose summer turns into something more when she begins hearing voices. But who could she tell? I mean, would you tell anyone? I'd be scared they'd send me straight to the crazy house! When school starts life gets a little better with the new hot kid in school, Avan. Good things always must come to an end, isn't that what the say says? Well, Jade is heartbroken but something never imaginable to any teenager and she now, little by little, must find out who or what she really is.

Where did the idea come from to sit down and start writing it?

It actually started with an idea completely different but it was more for an adult crowd. I really wanted to write YA, so I started throwing ideas around with my friend, Mike, and came up with the story.

Tell us about your writing process?

I don't really have a process per se, its more of a B.I.C (butt in chair) kind of thing. Sit down and just write. I try not to look at what I am writing so I don't keep correcting myself, I just let it all come out and only when I am all done do I go back and check it.

Who is your favourite character? why?

In my book? I love them all, they all have something to love. Claire is your always positive friend, Nate is the calm guy that is devoted to his girlfriend, Avan is the gorgeous bastard that steals your heart in the second it takes you to look at him and Jade, she is strong, no matter what gets thrown her way, even if she doesn't, she attempts to rise above it all.

Are you working on any writing at the minute?

I am currently writing book #2 in the Feathermore Trilogy. It is so exciting to see where Jade is headed. **wink**

What are your top 5 all time favourite reads?

This is such a simple question yet there is no simple answer. I love so many books for so many different reasons. The Twilight Saga (lets make this count as one!), it is because of these books I am writing. The Immortals series by Alyson Noel, The House of Night Series by PC & Kristin Cast,The Willows:Haven by Hope Collier and last, but never least, the Arelia LaRue series by Kira Saito.

Who is your all time favourite fictional character? why? (not your own)

You got me here. I am not sure... It would definitely be someone that has some kind of paranormal power. Hmmm, maybe Zoey Redbird? From the House of Night series. She's a vampire, a High Priestess at that. Has hot guys all over her **coughs** STARK **coughs** and is a strong character.
